Robert Hoyman is a veteran of the middle grade classroom. He spent
over 40 years invested in the primary goal of making learning fun. Robert
produced and directed more than a dozen fully staged musical plays,
wrote and produced a performance version of the old television series,
To Tell the Truth, and collaborated with legendary Disney cartoon animator
Fred Grable, to teach students how to bring their animated drawings to life.
In addition to his full time teaching duties, Robert worked part time for 20
years. He coached after school athletics, served children, adolescents,
and their families, at a community Family Counseling Center, and worked
as a competency trainer for the court system. He also volunteered on the
board of directors at the local Children’s Community Theatre.
Robert was a Teacher of the Year finalist in school districts in Florida and
Virginia (Always the bridesmaid, never the bride). Additionally, he was
named Virginia District 5 VFW Teacher of the Year in 2010.
In the classroom Robert cherished presenting a diversity of rich, quality
literature. Humor was always an enjoyable part of these offerings. And so
Limerick Comics is a natural expression of these interests.
Robert grew up on the Space Coast of Florida, and is a graduate of The
University of South Florida in Tampa. During his childhood, he was a
witness to a host of historic launches of the Gemini, Apollo, and Space
Shuttle programs. He continues to reside in Melbourne, Florida with his
wife Robin, and precious Pug named Gus. He has two grown sons and
one grandson. When not writing he can usually be found outdoors
swimming laps, on the golf course, or on the bike trail.
